We offer materials grants to help ensure access to high-quality, hands-on learning experiences which have been shown to positively influence mathematical understanding and achievement. Teachers can use these supplemental classroom materials to engage students with representing, solving, and talking mathematics.
Our current grant program features Bridges Breakout: Number Rack (BBNR). This instructional resource supports the development of a deep understanding of numbers through 20, ways they can be represented, and ways they can be composed and decomposed to support operational fluency (that is, flexibility, accuracy, efficiency).
Applications from US-based nonprofit institutions are accepted on a rolling basis subject to material availability.
Our goal is to reach educators seeking a high-quality, hands-on approach to building number sense and developing fact fluency. Please note this is a district-level program and requires appropriate administrator approval.
Eligible districts will meet the following criteria:
- Not currently using the Bridges in Mathematics or Number Corner programs from The Math Learning Center
- Seeking a high-quality, hands-on approach to building number sense and developing fact fluency
- Serving high-needs students (preferred)
Before submitting your application, please preview Bridges Breakout: Number Rack to determine whether it is a good match for your needs.
The information required by the application is listed below. You will be asked to provide brief answers to the following questions:
- What is your core elementary mathematics curriculum?
- What specific role would the BBNR materials play in your district mathematics program?
- What information might you gather to describe the impact of BBNR on teachers, students, or both?
- In what ways is your district high-needs? [optional]
- How many K–2 classrooms are in your district?
- How many BBNR kits are you requesting?
- Note: Program guidelines allow for a minimum of one kit per grade level K–2 up to a maximum of 20% of K–2 classrooms.
You will also be asked to provide contact information for you and a district level administrator, such as your superintendent, curriculum director, or an administrator in an equivalent position. Finally, you will need to provide your Employer Identification Number (EIN) and shipping address.
To begin, you will need to register for an MMF Apply account by providing your name and creating a username and password. You can save your responses to continue your application later with your login. You can also invite collaborators to your application.
